3D scanning for any lab or clinic
With the R700, users can create accurate digital study models in just a few clicks. The R700 is optimized for scanning dental impressions and plaster casts directly at the orthodontist's practice or in the lab. The scanner's small footprint is comparable to that of a laptop PC and it easy to install in labs or clinics of any size.

Virtual base creation
The system includes common base types such as ABO and Ricketts. The selected base can easily be fitted to your 3D model. Users get a consistent look for their digital models while saving time and materials in the study model making process.

Obtaining the original occlusion
Includes special scanning fixtures that hold models or impression objects in fixed positions and ensure accurate-capture of the patient's original occlusion from Upper and Lower models or from wax or silicone bites. Advanced software tools precisely adapt the captured occlusion.

Designed for orthodontic workflows
The R700 is optimized for scanning the occlusion situation. Users can add virtual model bases to efficiently and consistently replicate traditional physical models. Scan data is output in a standard open format allowing unlimited flexibility and seamless interfacing to manufacturing.

Adaptive Impression Scanning

Digital study models straight from the impression
Omit traditional gypsum model fabrication and jumpstart the digital analysis and design process. Unique adaptive impression scanning technology ensures the market's most complete and accurate capture automatically. Impression scanning is expected to become the most productive method for scanning at the orthodontics office or lab, leaving "gypsum only" scanners obsolete.

Reducing turnaround times
Reduce chair time and save costs. Assistants can scan in parallel while the orthodontist sees the next patient and diagnostics/treatment planning can start immediately without waiting for a gypsum model. Laboratories reduce their model- making costs, minimize delays and jumpstart the appliance making process.

Unique Adaptive Impression scan technology
3Shape's patented adaptive scanning technology, combined with 3-axis motion and 2 cameras with reduced angle facilitate unique impression

scanning capability. Adaptive scanning detects incomplete areas and automatically builds scan sequences capturing full object geometry. Automatic alignment brings the preparation and antagonist scans into natural occlusion.

Before Adaptive Scanning
The first scan result is incomplete in the preparation, proximal and contact areas, which will jeopardize fit and clinical performance.
  After Adaptive Scanning
A complete and high accuracy scan after adaptive scanning of incomplete areas automatically applying the optimal combination of 2 cameras and 3-axis motion.

2 cameras with reduced angle enable impressions, deep inlays and full undercuts to be scanned effectively.

The 3-axis motion system allows the dental object to be tilted, rotated, and translated facilitating scanning from any viewpoint enabling scanning of more than 350 degrees of a sphere.

Scan parameters are automatically adjusted to the object's material for accurate color capture.
